Getting Started

Hyvä POS is in closed beta

Hyvä POS is currently in a closed beta (pilot phase) with a small group of merchants. It is not yet generally available: the App Store release follows the pilot, and features and configuration may still change - possibly in backwards-incompatible ways - before the general release. Want to take part? Sign up at hyva.io/pos.

Hyvä POS is a native app. You install it from the App Store, connect it to your Magento store, and start selling. This section covers the requirements, the installation, and what to prepare on the Magento side.

Requirements

Requirement
Device iPad (recommended), iPhone, or a Mac with Apple silicon
Operating system iOS / iPadOS 17 or newer
Magento Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce 2.4.x, reachable over HTTPS
Magento modules None. The free app works against a standard Magento installation

One device per Magento user on the free tier

The free app connects one device per Magento API user. Running several registers against the same store is a PRO capability, where each device is a licensed terminal.

Country Availability

The app itself runs anywhere - what differs per country is fiscal law. In countries without fiscal receipt requirements, among them the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and Switzerland, there is nothing to consider: install and sell. Countries such as Germany, Austria, France and Italy require every register sale to be digitally signed; Hyvä POS is building that in as fiscal signing (a PRO feature with a fiscal license), currently in development and not production-ready yet. Before planning a store in any country with fiscal rules, check the country overview: seven countries are on the signing roadmap, and some others require certified hardware the register does not support.

Install the App

  1. Open the App Store on your iPad and search for Hyvä POS.
  2. Install and open the app.

There is nothing to install on a server first. The app guides you from an empty state to a connected store.

Try It in Demo Mode

You can explore the entire app before connecting anything. Demo mode loads a sample catalog and lets you process sales, park carts, apply discounts and print receipts, all without a Magento store. Choose Try Demo Mode on the first screen.

Demo mode and real stores exist side by side, so you can keep the demo around for training new staff after you have connected your store.

Next Steps

  1. Prepare your Magento store: create an API integration or decide on an authentication method.
  2. Check the permissions your API user needs.
  3. Connect your store with the guided setup.
  4. Lock the iPad so the app is all anyone can reach on the counter.
  5. If anything fails on the way, see connection troubleshooting.
