Fiscal Compliance
Hyvä POS is in closed beta
Hyvä POS is currently in a closed beta (pilot phase) with a small group of merchants. It is not yet generally available: the App Store release follows the pilot, and features and configuration may still change - possibly in backwards-incompatible ways - before the general release. Want to take part? Sign up at hyva.io/pos.
Not production-ready in any country yet
Fiscal signing is in development. No fiscal regime on this page is met by Hyvä POS today. Until a country is marked production-ready here, you can test and evaluate the register in that country, but not legally sell with it.
Germany, Austria, France and Italy - and a growing list of other countries - require every register sale to be digitally signed, so that sales cannot be altered or deleted afterwards. You cannot legally run a register in these countries without it. Hyvä POS builds on fiskaly, the market-standard signing service, to meet these requirements.
Fiscal rules differ per country: seven countries are on the signing-service roadmap, and some require certified hardware or local product approval that Hyvä POS does not carry. The overview below states where the register stands, country by country.
Country Overview
Everything below is about register receipts - consumer sales at the counter. B2B e-invoicing mandates (Belgium's, for example) concern how invoices travel between businesses and live in your Magento or accounting setup, not in the register.
No Fiscal Requirement
The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Switzerland, Estonia, Finland and Luxembourg have no fiscal signing requirement for retail registers: there is nothing to configure and no fiscal license needed. The Czech Republic abolished its regime in 2023. If your country is in this list, the rest of this page does not apply to you.
Support Planned
These countries are covered by fiskaly, the signing service the register integrates. The signing service is a third-party subscription and adds its own per-terminal cost on top of the POS license (see Cost and Licensing). None of them is production-ready today.
| Country | Regulation | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Germany | KassenSichV (TSE) | Planned - sales and cash movements signed, TSE QR code on receipts, DSFinV-K exports |
| Austria | RKSV | Planned - same signing integration |
| Italy | Corrispettivi telematici | Planned - the approved software route, no RT printer needed |
| Spain | VeriFactu / TicketBAI | Planned - VeriFactu applies nationwide from 2027; TicketBAI already applies in the Basque provinces |
| France | Anti-fraud law (NF525) | Planned - additionally requires certification of the register software itself; rollout in France follows that certification |
| Portugal | Certified invoicing software | Planned - additionally requires tax-authority certification of the register software |
| Sweden | Certified control unit | Planned - control unit through the signing service, plus the register's manufacturer declaration |
Not Supported
These countries require the register itself, or a fiscal printer attached to it, to be certified or approved by the local authority. Hyvä POS holds no such certifications and cannot legally process consumer sales there:
- Poland - retail sales must pass through a certified fiscal printer; software registers are limited to hospitality.
- Hungary - registers must be approved by the tax authority (a software register route opens in 2026, but approval is per product).
- Romania, Bulgaria, Greece - certified fiscal devices.
- Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia - real-time reporting regimes that Hyvä POS has not implemented.
- Lithuania, Latvia - certified security modules and register equipment.
This list is demand-driven, not final. If your business or your client needs one of these markets, tell us: enough demand is what moves a country onto the roadmap.
Belgium and Denmark: Fine for Retail, Not for Hospitality
Both countries leave retail and B2B sales entirely free - no certification, no signing, nothing to configure. Their rules target hospitality, a segment Hyvä POS is not built for:
- Belgium - a business earning €25,000 or more per year (excluding VAT) from restaurant and catering services - meals, not drinks - must run a government-certified register system (the GKS or "white cash register" with its fiscal data module). Hyvä POS is not GKS-certified, so it is not suited for restaurants, cafés or bars above that threshold. Retail and B2B stores can use it without any fiscal configuration.
- Denmark - no general requirement; the tax administration can order businesses in specific sectors (restaurants, cafés, grocers) to use a registered sales system. Hyvä POS is not registered for those sectors. Retail is unaffected.
Fiscal legislation moves - several of the regimes above changed within the last two years. If you are unsure about your country or segment, ask us before going live.
How It Works
When you activate a terminal with a fiscal license, the signing service is provisioned for that terminal automatically: no fiskaly account to create, no keys to copy. From then on, every sale is signed at the moment of sale, and the receipt carries the machine-readable proof (the QR code and signature block your local regulation prescribes: KassenSichV/TSE in Germany, RKSV in Austria, NF525 in France, corrispettivi in Italy).
Signing happens from the device against the signing service directly, so a Magento outage does not stop legally selling.
When the Signing Service Is Unreachable
A sale never waits for the signing service. If signing fails, the transaction is queued on the device, the receipt prints with a disclosure that the signature is pending (as the regulations prescribe for outages), the register shows a warning state, and a retry loop signs the queue every minute until it drains, attaching signatures retroactively to the stored sales. In Germany the register also signs cash movements (drawer in/out), and the device watches its clock against the signing service: drift beyond 120 seconds is flagged, because transaction ordering (Germany) and chained hashes (France) depend on honest timestamps. Fix the device clock and the warning clears.
Exports for the Auditor
The module produces the export files your tax authority expects (DSFinV-K for Germany, and the equivalents for the other supported regimes), generated automatically on a daily schedule with monthly rollups, and downloadable from the Magento admin. When the auditor asks, the files are already there.
How often exports are generated is configurable in Magento: daily, monthly, or both. A scheduled job produces them; download from POS → Fiscal Exports in the admin.
Cost and Licensing
Fiscal signing requires the fiscal license variant, and the signing service (fiskaly) is a third-party charge on top of the terminal license (roughly 10 to 15 euros per terminal per month, paid for the signing service). It is not optional in these countries: digital signing of every sale is what makes the register legal.
