Changelog - Email & Newsletter Templates
All notable changes to Email & Newsletter Templates are documented in this file.
The format is based on Keep a Changelog.
1.0.0 - 2026-10-12
Email & Newsletter Templates leaves beta with this release and requires Hyvä CMS 1.3.0.
Noteworthy change Email and newsletter templates have their own groups under the Hyvä CMS ACL tree, and custom roles need the new ACL resources granted after upgrading. Magento_Email::template and Magento_Newsletter::template no longer gate any Hyvä surface. The Hyvä editor, setup, preview, test send and settings saves now need the Email templates (Hyva_EmailTemplates::email_template) and Newsletter templates (Hyva_EmailTemplates::newsletter_template) resources under Hyvä CMS: View opens the editor, previews and sends a test; Save draft covers setup, creating a newsletter and the settings saves; Publish makes a draft live. Saving a template as the email header or footer also changes store configuration, so it needs Hyvä Email Templates Section (Hyva_EmailTemplates::config) as well. Email templates also have Delete and a Version history group; newsletter templates have neither. Email template REST follows the same tree: GET needs View, POST and PUT need Publish, DELETE needs Delete, and version history needs View, Organise versions and Delete versions. The core email and newsletter template grids and forms still need the core grants, so a role that should open the Hyvä editor from them needs both. After upgrading, open System > Permissions > User Roles, edit each custom role that works on email or newsletter templates and tick the Hyvä CMS resources it should have. Do the same for every REST integration with a custom resource list. Nothing is migrated automatically, and no code changes are needed. The Administrators role holds all resources and is unaffected.
Added
- Match email template setup to the newsletter design with a single starting-point choice, shared CMS controls, and scrollable content with persistent actions.
- Redesign newsletter setup using shared CMS controls and Tailwind utilities, with preview text and a live inbox preview shown from the start, and a scrollable body with persistent actions.
- Introduce Send Test Email through the shared per-user CMS feature tour.
- Add newsletter creation to the Navigator and an Email category for compatible saved templates.
- Email and newsletter template listings include CMS-style Select actions and a Hyvä CMS status column. Newsletter listings include Add Template with Hyvä CMS to open the first-time setup flow.
- Email and newsletter forms use the standard editor toggle and faded, clickable previews that open the editor.
- Package-owned compiled CMS admin styles with optional optimized aggregate build support.
- Registers this module's own category order (Structure, Content, Decorative, Advanced, Email) with the CMS Editor Preferences "Categories" tab, so email/newsletter templates get their own default/reset order instead of the base CMS one. Requires Hyvä CMS
1.3.0.
Fixed
- Defer newsletter creation until Create is clicked in initial setup, save the template and Hyvä draft together, and include preheader settings in initial setup.
- Keep package admin utilities within email templates and keep compiled and legacy styles synchronized in build and watch mode.
- Hide Hyvä listing columns and restore native actions when the corresponding email or newsletter feature is disabled.
- Fix duplicate default names when creating newsletters, include sender details and preheader in setup, and place the editor toggle above newsletter content.
- Render a contained email preview empty state without page-editor stylesheet dependencies.
- Fresh newsletters use the CMS-style name/subject and scratch/template setup flow; existing HTML keeps its import options.
- Keep the analysis reopen button at the bottom right of the preview and hide Insert Variable while Hyvä Editor is enabled.
- Position email and newsletter test controls on the left by default and allow the preview status bar to wrap on narrow screens.
- Preview published emails and newsletters in a new tab with production styling and dummy customer/order data.
- Initialize generated templates with enabled Hyvä content, and repair uninitialized generated templates during upgrades without overwriting existing edits.
- A header or footer save without Hyvä Email Templates Section (
Hyva_EmailTemplates::config) is refused before anything is stored. Previously the template's name and subject were saved before the check ran. - The version history REST and SOAP endpoints only return and change email template versions. Saving version properties only accepts the name, published flag, pin, emoji and restore reference.
Removed
Hyva\EmailTemplates\ViewModel\Utilities::linkHref()andlinkTarget(). Custom email components that call them break. Use the element block'sgetLinkData()instead, as the shipped button, footer and image templates do:$link = $block->getLinkData($block->getData('link') ?? [])returnsurlandopen_in_new.
