Linked Products

This feature is in beta

Linked Products is currently in beta (0.1.0). Features and configuration are still evolving and may change - possibly in backwards-incompatible ways - before the general release. We don't recommend using it in production yet; if you do, expect that upgrading to later versions may require rework. See Release Process & Status for what beta means, and the beta upgrade notes for how to install beta versions.

Linked Products, included with Hyvä Commerce, introduces a new entity (Linked Product Group) that lets you group different product types by a shared attribute, such as color or size.

Main advantages of Linked Products

  • It is more flexible than rigid Related/Cross-sell/Upsell product relations.
  • It is far less complex than Configurable, Grouped and Bundle product relations.
  • Easily link products into a group directly from the Product Edit page.

Which attributes can be used for linking?

  • frontend_input = select - dropdown attributes only.
  • is_user_defined = 1 - custom attributes only.
  • The product must have a non-empty value for that attribute.

Which catalog input types are supported by the frontend

  • Visual swatch
  • Text swatch
  • Dropdown is supported but will be rendered as Text swatch
