Common questions about the Hyvä CMS requirement, theme compatibility, what happens to templates you don't convert, and how emails and newsletters differ.

Do I need Hyvä CMS?

Yes. Email & Newsletter Templates is a feature module for Hyvä CMS and requires the Hyvä CMS module to be installed and enabled. See the Hyvä CMS documentation.

Do my emails still work with my existing theme?

Yes. The module renders complete standalone email HTML. Your storefront theme does not need any changes, and emails built with the editor work with any theme, including non-Hyvä themes.

What happens to templates I don't convert?

Nothing. The Hyvä editor is opt-in per template. Templates without the Hyvä editor enabled continue to render exactly as before.

Is there a difference between building an email and building a newsletter?

Not in the editor. Both content types share the same components, editor, and configuration. The differences are in setup and delivery: each has its own configuration group and its own enable switch, and newsletters are sent through Magento's standard newsletter queue with their own default header and footer. Do I have to use the setup buttons?

No, but they save a lot of work. Create Email Templates generates Hyvä versions of the standard transactional emails from the built-in presets, and Map Templates to Configuration points Magento's email settings at them. Both are safe to run again later, since existing templates are skipped. See Configuration.

Can developers add their own email components?

Yes. Custom email components follow the standard Hyvä CMS component patterns with an email context flag to scope them to emails. See Creating Custom Email Components.
